Enrolling a New Student

The custodial parent or legal guardian can register their child at Schurz High School during normal business hours;
7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

If enrolling in our general education program, the student enrolling must live within our district. Please click here for a map of our boundaries.

If enrolling in our Finance Academy or Music Academy, the student may live outside our district boundaries, but he/she must fill out the appropriate paperwork.

Complete Options books with all the CPS programs listed are available at every school and Chicago Public Libraries throughout the city. The Options application due in December 2007,will be posted on the site this Fall.

What to Bring?

Proof the adult is the custodial parent or legal guardian with court documentation.
Proof of the child's name and date of birth.
Proof of residency using 3 different ID's.

Acceptable Documents (to prove child's name and date of birth)

Adoption Records
Certified Copy of Birth Certificate
Court Records
Naturalization Certificate
Passport
School Records
Valid US Immigration and Naturalization Service Documents

Acceptable Documents (to prove in district residency)

Bring a minimum of three (3) ID's showing the current address. One (1) of these should be a picture ID such as a Driver's License or State ID.
CHA Letters
Bank Statement
Canceled Check
Check Stub with Address
Checking or Savings Book
Closing Papers for a New Home Purchase
Credit Card Billing to the Residential Address
Driver's License or State ID
Insurance Policy/Billing Statement
Public Aid Statement
School Records
Utility Bill (within 60 days)
Vehicle Title or Registration ID Card
Voter Registration Card
